I would like to install SQL Server SSIS 2008 on my SQL Server 2005 installation/instance and was wondering if the two can work in conjunction or if there is any complications to this configuration? I will depoying SSIS packages on the 2008 installation to backup databases on from the 2005 databases.
Thanks

Have not tried that any time, but I would surely test this and then implement rather than install and run into issues.

If that is the only thing you are planning to do in SQL 2008 then why not use the current SQL 2005 and backup databases from SQL 2005.
Ultimately it is your choice, why are you installing SQL 2008 should have an appropriate justification.

Thanks for the information. The justification is that my manager wants to implement SSIS packages but the only setup files I have are from 2008. So to install SSIS I have to use the 2008 CD.
