Hi Folks,
to install sql server 2008 R2 is it just a add on/patch/service pack to your current sql server 2008 installation or do you need to do an entire reinstall?

Yesterday R2 was released to MSDN subscribers, so hopefully some of them can chime in. I am just doing my first install, so I can't comment yet.

R2 is basically an upgrade. Depending on your licensing with MS, you'll need to buy a new one to move to it. It's not simply a service pack.
