Is it necessary to install IIS on Windows Server 2008 R2, before installing SQL. I am prompted for it on the install, but I won't be running reporting services. Will SQL still install correctly ?

IIS is a prerequisite for SSRS. If you do not want SSRS to be installed, you can safely ignore this warning. This does not affect installation the other services/components.

To expand on the answer from Adiga: IIS is only a prerequisite for SSRS 2005. Starting from SSRS 2008, you don't need IIS as SSRS uses http.sys
Need an answer? No, you need a question
