Installing SQL server 2005 on a home computer

  • Hi -

I would like to install a Developer's edition of SQL Server 2005 which I received from taking the administration class. In ths class, we use a domain account. I don't have that at home. In looking at the exercise, I observe that I can use "the built-in System account". Can you shed some light on that? I know that I have an admin account for windows .. should I use that or should I setup another admin windows account specifically for SQL server and use that. Or any other ... Can you please advise?

BTW - I am a newbie .. how do I find the reply? Thanks.

  • If it's a desktop at home, local system's fine.

It's not recommended for use in production systems because it has too many privileges and has no access to other machines.
