Installing SQL Server 2005 on a computer on which is running also a SQL Server 2000

    Hello everyone !

    Can I install a SQL Server 2005 Standard Edt. on a computer on which is runnig also a SQL Server 2000 SP4 Personal Edt. ?!

    I want both SQL Servers to run on the same machine ?!

    Is that possible ? If so, which are the conditions ?!

    performance isn't too good - you might want to consider using virtual pc or server

    maybe i didn't express myself very well (sorry about that)...

    is possible to install the SQL Server 2005 without "damaging" the databases running on SQL Server 2000 ?!

    i'll make backups surelly, but yhis is ok ?

    because when i had SQL Server 2005 Beta 2, after installing the server, the databases (from sql server 2000) were "corrupted" and i need to detach them manually and/or drop them all ! More, after removing sql server 2005 the 2000 server didn't worked very well (i couldn't attach any db or restore) so finally i reinstall the 2000 sql server!

    And i don't complain about performance (i have an P4 HT 3.0 Ghz, 2 Mb cache L2, 800 Mhz bus, 1.53 (3 x 512) Gb RAM ECC, 2x 80 Gb S-ATA WD HDD, on Win Xp Pro SP2) !....

    ...or at least not yet

    I need this only for testing (will migrate our application from delphi 5 to delphi 7 and from SQL server 2000 on 2005 ) !

    But i need to run both SQL servers simultaneously (on the same machine)!
