Hi Everyone,
I would like to know if installing SQL 2005 Service Pack 2 will affect any of the system databases, master & msdb especially.
Will I loose login information and SQL agent jobs.
I look forward to hearing from you guys.
Thanks

It will change some things in those databases as this is a "patch" for SQL Server, but you will not lose any jobs or logins.

SP2 has fixed lot of bugs in SQL 2005. better you can go ahead without worrying of losing your logins and jobs. they are not affected.

Thanks guys. I will get ready for this. I guess its just a case of backing up all DB's inclusing system DB's and installing the patch.
Thanks

Its always good to take all databases backup before doing any upgrade. You never know if you want to go back to previous version.

You definitely get a new version of mssqlsystemresource with SP2, and you should always assume that upgrade scripts will run on master and msdb during a SP install.
