A clean install of a SQL Server 2005 standard edition was done on a clean windows OS (no other sqlserver 2000, ...). No problem in management studio after install.
Because another program was developped with .NET 1.1, a .NET 1.1 installation was necessary.
After the install of this .NET 1.1 package (downloaded from Microsoft site), the management Studio gives an empty popup when launched.
You can click OK en then you can work in the management Studio.
As far as I can see, everything is working well...
Has anyone experienced this also? (Didn't find anything on the internet concerning this issue)

I'd be tempted to try re-installing the .Net 2 framework. Something in the .Net 1.1 install may have caused an issue - generally installs are backwards compatible, not forwards.

Reasonably sure that some of our developers have had issues getting both to sit on the same box before. I'm think they had to recompile some 1.1 code to make it work with 2.0
