I had created several DTS projects in SQL Server 2000. Now we have shifted to Standard Edition 2005. I have already installed the SQL SERVER engine from disc 1 and management tools from disc 2. I want to
create the package once again in 2005. I got to know that the package can be created through Buisness Intelligence. So I got the same CD (disc1) and tried to install the Buisness Intelligence, But it gave me the error:
Build version check:
Your upgrade is blocked because the existing component is a later version than the version you are trying to upgrade to. To modify an existing SQL Server component, go to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, select the component you would like to modify, and then click Change/Remove.
How can I install the Buisness Intelligence? Please its urgent.

In order to add components to an exisiting installation go open add/remove software in control panel. When select SQL Server 2005 and the installion wizard will start. It will ask you if you want to add server or workstation components. In your case you need to select workstation components.

I think you need to uninstall your SQL server 2000...first before you could install the SQL server 2005. And also when you have finished installing the SQL Server 2005, automatically the SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio and SQL Server Management Studio are already installed. You could start making packages in SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio in File>New>Project>Integration Services...
Hope it helps 🙂
