Installing Additional Components After Installation

  • When I originally installed SQL Server 2005 Standard on my PC, I could not add the Reporting Services component because I had the Vista Home Premium OS (Vista Ultimate or higher is required to add the RS component).

I have since upgraded to Windows 7 and would like to add the Reporting Services component without having to do a complete re-install of SQL Server 2005 Standard. Does anyone know if it is possible to go back and add individual components?

    Thanks!

  • You need to start the Installation as you have done initially, and in the select components dilaog, you can only choose SQL Server Reporting Server. Do not check / select Database Engine or other components.

You also need to make sure IIS 7.5 is installed and all the features needed to run Asp.net are enabled and IIS 7.5 is in IIS 6 compatibility mode because I had to run setup many times before the installer enabled SSRS. If SSRS is not enabled it means you are missing a component needed for Asp.net because SSRS 2005 is Asp.net dependent. You may also need VS2005 SP1 for BIDS useds for SSRS development.

    Kind regards,

  • Agree with Gift Peddie, about IIS prerequisite, and that was assumed in my previous reply, if not the Reporting Server installation would not go forward.
