On one of my client machines I have run into the following trouble:
The SQL Client installation program declines to install, telling me that I have a newer version installed (7.0.694). (BTW, this version isn't even in the service packs.)
Alas, looking into Control Panel -> A/R Programs, M$ SQL is not listed. All the files that I know of show the virsion 7.00.623. And there is no sign of the 7.0.694 version in the registry .
How do I get rid of the phantom installation?!
Thanks everybody for your suggestions/comments.
Kind regards,

Drop the SQL folders, then clean out all the MSSQL... keys from the registry. Keep cleaning until it installs!
