Installation Suggestion

    Hi,

    I have Sql server 2005 installed and have servers test/dev/prod,now i want to install sql server 2008 r2 in my 32 bit system (which is on a new server) and use the database from sql server 2005.Is that possible?

    and What would be the best way to do it?

    1.Just installing Sql server 2008 r2 and use the server and database from sql 2005.

    2.Upgrade everything to 2008.

    Hi,

    Go for the Side by side installation.And restore your 2005 database files in new one.verify all the data objects which you have restored working fine.
