Hi All,
I have attempted to install SQL Server 2005 Developer edition onto a clean build PC with no prior Database.
I watched the install of the above and did not see any errors. However after a machine reboot from the start menu for SQL Server 2005 I only see the options available for configuration tools. I do not seem to have any tools available to allow me to actually create databases, tables, stored proc's etc. I also do not seem to have books online available to me either. Is there anything else that I need to install that isn't obvious to make the management studio availalable to me?
Answer: It appears that in the developer edition only, the tools are not installed as standard as in workgroup/enterprise editions and instead you have to delve into the DVD to find the setup......why microsoft has done this is beyond me....since you cant do much without the front end tools.

I'm with you. I know that if you download & install 2005 Express, you don't get the tools. I guess with the developer edition you don't automatically get the tools either.
