I tried several times to install SQL Server 2005 but always bumped into the same issue, there is an error and I can't see the SQL Server Management Studio. The message says "Product : Workstation Components, Books Online and Development Tools Error : A component that you have specified in the ADD_LOCAL property is already installed. To upgrade the existing component, refer to the template.ini and set the UPGRADE property to the name of the component."
I had a look at the log file as suggested during the install process but can't understand it. I uploaded it on my server: http://www.corobori.com/SQLSetup0001_ULURU_Tools.log

What version of SQL are you installing?
Have you previously installed Visual Studio 2005 and/or SQL Server Express on your box?

Where does this occur during the install?
Are there services installed? Does SSMS run?

On my machine I just have SQL Server 2000.
I don't remember having installed SQL Server 2005 Express , I ran the Visual Studio 2005 install maintenance and at least the Express option wasn't ticked as being installed.
Before I checked out the Microsoft SQL Server folder and it had only the 80 and MsSQL folders when installing.
I am trying to install the SQL Server Standard Edition.
The problem is ocurring at the end of the installation process at Workstation stage.
Right now I uninstalled SQL Server 2005 so I don't know which service is working or not.
I was thinking about installing it again but without installing the Workstation option and try installing that part on a 2nd run because I really want the Management Studio.

Check your Add/Remove Programs. SQL Express might have installed anyway when you installed VS 2005. If so, you'll need to uninstall it and reinstall the regular version of SQL Server 2005.

The (....) thing is starting really to (......)
I first installed SQL Server 2005 without the Workstation components and it went thru just fine.
The SSCM is up and working.
I then tried to install the the Components tools as described in the blog mentioned above or as a command line: same result.

Issue is solved !!!
The solution was a registry cleaning before installing SQL Server 2005. Got it here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
