have you tried running the Component Checker for MDAC?

Thanks Bruno
I have downloaded and installed the Component Checker but it is unable to locate MSVCP60.dll. What I have in my system is MSVCP50.dll. Where can I get that MSVCP60.dll?

Have you tried http://www.dll-files.com/ ?

I have downloaded and installed MSVCP60.dll then ran Component Checker. Component Checker 2.0 returned: "The following product releases were matched: MDAC 2.5 SP3".
What will I do next? I really appreciate your help

Did you uninstall or had to delete previous versions of SQL or SQL 2000 which might already running ?
If that is true, verify if any SQL services are running (SQL Agent, MSDTC or even MS Search) and stop them before you start installation.
Thanks

Do I need to download and install latest version of MDAC to successfully install SQL or do I have to download and install MDAC 2.5 SP3 to replace the MDAC in my system to be able to finish installing SQL? Please help me.

I'd advise you to install the latest MDAC and then try reinstalling SQL Server 2000.
Of course, there may be a few more issues regarding your system configuration.
