Hi,
We are planning to install SQL Server 2008 EE on Windows 2003, which is a production box. In production box, do we need to install the .NET Framework 3.5 software development kit (SDK)?
The SDK contains tools that are useful when you use the .NET Framework for SQL Server development. But on production box, do we really require this? what is exactly required. Please provide me the exact link to down load the required .NET Framework 3.5 (DBA's who already installed SQL Server 2008 on a production box, please advice)
thanks

I found the .NET Frame work 3.5 SP1 from the below link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa569263.aspx
But is is NOT .NET Frame work 3.5 SDK. I believe .NET Frame work 3.5 SDK for full development and for Just to Install SQL Server 2008, .NET Frame work 3.5 SP1(bootstrapper) is needed (which I'm downloading from the http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa569263.aspx )
please correct me if I'm wrong
thanks

You don't need the SDK which is more than 1gig but you need the .NET 3.5 and the .NET 3.5 SP1. If you don't have the .NET 3.5 installed it is more than 200megs. What you get depends on your operating system.
Kind regards,
