My colleague tried installing SQL Server 2005 SP2 on a failover cluster setup on Windows 2008 Hyper V environment. The installation process was failed with a message (dont know the exact message 🙁 ) and after that sql server got crashed.
I am in a situation where i dont know what was the error message. He tried onto development machine which i had rebuilt correspending to production environment and i have to re-install sp2 onto this dev machine.
Any precautions i should take before installing sp2?
Is anyone of you aware of any issues for installing sql server 2k5 sp2 on sql server 2k5 failover cluster in hyper-v. I googled and found that microsoft doesn't provide any support for this kind of environment.
any help is appreciated.

Since it looks like it's specifically excluded from support, you might want to ask someone at Microsoft. See if there is a virtualization launch coming up near you.

also check arount the virtualization site. Maybe a whitepaper has something or some contact info.

I think jeffbu @ microsoft.com (he did a virtual desktop overview) might be able to point you towards someone if he doesn't know himself.
