Hi,
All the VDisks which are presented on both nodes of the SQL server 2008 R2 cluster are online and showing within the Failover cluster manager.
And we would like to use and select 2 dedicated VDisks from the list for the new Named SQL Instance ( 1 for the Data and 1 for the Logs ) as ( Cluster Disk 3 & Cluster Disk 8 ).
Note : those selected disks are newly prepared and not being used yet in any other instances since we have only 1 instance now created which is the default one and it uses other different Vdisks ( Cluster Disk 1 & Cluster Disk 6 ).
We are still facing the same issue whenever we try to run the SQL 2008 R2 named instance setup, “Disk available check” rule fails
msdtc is configured as separate resource group.
quorum disk is also configured
Please help me to solve the issue
Thanks
SVA

What is the OS Version you are working on.
If OS is Windows 2003,
Then Check Cluster administrator, in Resources tab, see if you are able to view all the Vdisk or not
If OS is Windows 2008,
then check the same in Failover Cluster Administrator.

At least one of the disk resources needs to be a dependency of the SQL service.

There is dedicated disk available and online. The failover validation shows no error. The node is windows 2008.

have you checked the event logs for the cluster operations to see if there is anyhting obvious there. Are you sure the new disks are not part of an existing cluster group by mistake
