Our full MSSQL install file is 64 bit which prevents me from installing any components onto a 32 bit desktop.
How can I get an install file for only BIDS 2008 R2? What do I need to download?
Thanks very much for any tips.

the install media has install locations for x64, x86 and itanium.

Thanks for your reply, Perry.
When I ran setup.exe it immediately failed with a message saying "This file cannot be ran on a 32 bit machine" (or some similar wording)
Are you saying there are multiple setup.exe files on the install media? Please explain.
Thanks, Jack

You'll need the 32-bit set-up. (although BIDS is a 32-bit program, so in theory the 64-bit set-up should be able to install it. But it can't run as it is 64-bit itself)
Need an answer? No, you need a question

Thanks Perry and Koen.
I was able to get BIDS and Management Studio installed on the desktops by using the full product install files.
It successfully installed on an XP machine (32 bit) and on a Windows 7 machine (64 bit).
Thanks for your replies.

The full install media automatically detects your architecture platform and launches the appropriate installer.
