New job, newday 100 things to do, so Per request installed simple sql server 2014 active/passive cluster on new physical box and SAN. Now this group wants to instances of Analysis Services on same cluster (one mdx other tabular). I know I will need separate disk resources for these installs. AM I correct in I should add them as named instances so I don't need a new network IP just the new names for each instance?

each named instance will require a Client Access Point, which contains a unique network name and IP Address

but it is possible to install on a current sql 2014 Active/Passive cluster? So If they want both a Multi Dimenstional and Tabular nodes, will need to get two network IP's?
Thanks

you can install extra clustered instances onto the existing cluster, whether or not the hardware can support the new resources will need to be closely looked at.

Honestly the sql 2008 active passive cluster had stand alone instances of SSAS Multi and tabular. With 2014 you can indeed have 3 clusters on this physical beast (can't do Multi and Tabular on same) but I am opting for adding one SSAS Multi to existing cluster and then the other cluster would be the SSAS tabular. The only real goal of the active/passive cluster they built was for physical failover not based upon architectural needs
