I was told by a very good DBA i should buy all 4 "inside sql server 2005" books ( tsql querying, the storage engine, query tuning and optimization, tsql server programming)
Id rather get the 2008 versions of these books, but there is only the tsql querying and tsql programming books for the inside sql server 2008 series.
anyone know if there is a good book on the innards of the sql server 2008 engine, and optimization for sql 2008? I know its very similar to 2005 but im sure there are subtle differences also.

The series kinda got split in 2008. Haven't seen an equivalent to the 4th book, but if you want internals, you want this one.

Thanks for the info. I ended up going with the Inside sql server 2005: the storage engine, query tuning and optimization.
I know its sql 2005, but from reviews, it seems almost all the information is valid for sql 2008, and anything new, i will eventually look up online.
