Hi,
Is it allowed or possible to perform Inplace upgrade from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2?
Because I'm getting the message "It is not possible to change the SQL Server features to be upgraded in this release"
I ran the SQL Server 2008 R2 Upgrade Adviser before starting the upgrade and it did not give any type of upgrade blocking.
See the attachment
Please advice

"It is not possible to change the SQL Server features to be upgraded in this release"
Even if the setup shows the above message, I continued with the upgrade and it was successful.
So I did not understand what the above message means. Please provide your inputs.
thanks

could you advice me why the below message appears even though the upgrade won't be blocked after this step?
"It is not possible to change the SQL Server features to be upgraded in this release"
thanks

I am trying to upgrade from SQL 2008 R2 x64 Standard to SQL 2008 R2 x64 Enterprise and am receiving the same message. "It is not possible to change the SQL Server features to be upgraded in this release" during the 'Select Features' phase. In my case the upgrade is stopped with a pop up stating 'There are validation errors on this page'.
Is this a bug in the upgrade process?????

I think all this message means is that you can't pick and choose which features to upgrade; you must upgrade all features as determined by the upgrade utiltity. That is perhaps why the check boxes aren't selectable.
