Info Interviews in the Chicago area?

  • Hello.  I'd like to meet with established DBAs in the Chicago area to find out more about the world of database administration and data warehousing.  I recently got my MCDBA certification, but don't have a lot of on-the-job experience with SQL (I self-studied for the tests).

The meetings would be brief, informational sessions, lasting less than 20 minutes.  I'd like to talk about how you got into this field, what you like about the work, and if you have any advice for someone just starting out.

Are there some DBAs in the area that could meet with me?  Or would recommend someone for me to talk to?  Or another forum that I should post on?

Thank you for your advice!  I truly appreciate it.

  • This Chicago area SQL user group meets on June 28th at 5:30 PM downtown in the Microsoft office building (77 W. Wacker Dr., Suite 2300).  The topic is "Getting Ready for SQL 2005".  This would be a good opportunity to meet and talk to DBA's in the Chicagoland area.
