  Using SQL Server 2000,

  when I copy tables from db to db their indexes are dropped. Why is this and how can I prevent it?

  If I backup and restore they should be there , right?

  Backup and restore will preserve the indexes. A "copy" may or may not depending on how you do it.

  IF you use dts you should set the option

  to copy indexes.

  If you backup and restore they should all be in place.
