  Every time I try to run ITW, the window pops up very briefly stating "Analyzing the database and your workload ..." and almost immediately I get an error message: "An error occurred trying to execute a SQL statement."

  I have tried tuning a workload file from Profiler. I tried feeding in a simple "SELECT * FROM SomeTable" from Query Analyzer (which, btw, runs just fine if I run it manually). Both of these things cause the same error.

  Is this a known issue, or does anyone otherwise have any idea why this is failing?

  It never happened to me. Try to include the four name structure in your queries if you are not in the right default database.
