Dear Sir,
I have created table which contains ClienId,ClientName,Address etc.
Table-Client
Here ClientId Type Varchar(10),
ClientName Type Varchar(100),
Address Type Varchar(100).
Here I Have create primary key on ClientId which is clustered index.
but some one suggest me when you creating primary-key index on specific field that should be integer type. Therefore index on integer type field should be good and performance is much better than that. they said if the table contains huge data then it takes effect. so I want to clear my concept is it right what they said.
Please clear my concept.
Thanking You

BOL contains good info on indexes.
There are some nice articles on indexing at SSC :
- Introduction to Indexes (by Gail Shaw) : http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/Indexing/68439/
- Indexing Strategies (by Ramesh Gummadi) : http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/Indexing/indexingstrategies/1252/
- Index Creation Guidelines (by Leo Peysakhovich) : http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/Performance+Tuning/indexcreationguidelines/1389/
Don't just read the articles, but also walk through the debates !
