Index Fragmentation Vs Blocking

    Hi,

    We have MOSS 2007 databases in SQL Server 2005 and blocking occurring sometimes. Does Index fragmentation causes blocking?

    Is there any relation between Index fragmentation & blocking. Because I did Index defrag a month ago (considering page_count>1000)

    I wouldn't say that fragmentation causes blocking. But fragmentation may cause poor performance, which may make blocking more likely as processes take longer.
