In which files does actually SQL Server store data?

  • In which files does actually SQL Server store data? Can we have a different collation for database and table? Thanx in advance.

  • It will store the data in a mdf file, you can find the path the file by right click on the database -> properties -> Files .. there you can find the path of the mdf file as well as log file.

For your second question ... YES I think.

  • Hi,

Yes, you can have a column with a different collation from the table, but it can be problematic, especially round tempdb in my experience (though not my database). Look up 'Collation' in BOL. Kimberly Tripp has blogged on 'Collation Woes' too.

  • Heh... looks like homework questions answered without the OP even trying. 😉

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
