Hi,
It is definitely the 2005 version of the database...installed it from the 2005 installation cd.
Kind regards

While installing SQL Server 2005, you may select option for samples & databases, at that time sample databases installed.

What I have found that I received this error when I chose to install the default instance option for SQL 2005 over a previous SQL 2000 installation. This error seems to be due to trying to attach a 2005 formatted database to a 2000 based instance. When I upgraded the instance, then the AdventureWorks database attached fine.
For what it's worth...

Thanx for all the help 🙂 It is much appreciated.
I did choose the default instance option for sql 2005...
What I actually wanted was for both instances to co-exist happily since I need to use both 2000 and 2005. I have found a workaround for now...using virtual pc for my 2005 adventureworks exercises.
