import text file conversion to date

    Any ideas on how to convert a field in the form of YYYYMMDD which is in numeric format to a date field when using the data transformation services import wizard?  I have created a table that has this field formated as a date...and have tried several ways using VB and the transformation services, but no luck.

    This should work fine.  When you get to the output columns screen by double clicking you can obtain access to change the output column to a DateTime Format.

    When I run the script using the April 2005 CTP the job fails with a overflow error on the conversion from the YYYYMMDD to DateTime format.

    I believe that this is a defect since it should work.
