Import Excel spreadsheet to .adp file

    I'm having trouble importing an Excel file to an existing table in .adp file. This is the error message: "An error occurred trying to import file 'C:\\WINNT\Profiles\.\.\.xls'. The file was not imported.

    In Import Spreadsheet Wizard I checked the First Row Contains Column Headings but I still get this error.

    When I removed the headings in Excel file and selected import to a new table the data are saved in the new table.

    I need the headings in Excel spreadsheet. How can I import the data w/o the headings onto Access.

    You help is appreciated.

    I don't know if this is the right forum for Excel to Access questions, but I'll have a go anyway....

    Is it possible that any of the column headings aren't valid Access column names?

    Hi alicejwz

    as far as I understand this you are trying to import to an existing table, right?

    I mean no table which content gets deleted regularly, but a table with production data. Well, if so, and direct import doesn't work, why not create a new linked table in Access to the underlying Excel spreadsheet and run a query on this new link that appends the data to the original Access table?

    Hope you will understand what I mean ?

    As for Mark,

    now that we will soon be having an Access forum, but not right now, where else should alicejwz post.
