Import data from excel 2007 to sql server 2005

    if u r using office 2007 u should use oledb 12.0 not jet 4.0

    Hi ekonagu,

Acknowledged. The point was that in trying to get ACE 12.0 to work, my existing JET connection started failing. Hence the (regretted) conversation divergence.

Just a cog in the wheel.

  • Warren you are right.

"A last ditch effort would be to export all yout spreadsheets to a comma seperated file, or whatever yout choice, as individual text file then import those."

Importing and exporting data between Excel and SQL Server is an issue which you

find many threads about in this community.

People does have problems. My conclusion is after many burnt hours is if you want

a "versionstable" solution to avoid the Excelformat. Export TAB separated textfiles and

open them in Excel. Save Excelfiles as TAB separated textfiles and use for example bulkinsert.

You may have to learn a bit VBA in Excel but that is well invested time.
