Implicit converts for inserts

    Hi

    do implicit converts in insert statements matter? I talking about converting between char and varchar and differing lengths

    I know in Selects they can cause scans instead of seeks, but I can't see any impact for inserts from my limited testing

    Is there anything I should know?

    The only place where implicit conversions can cause scans is when they happen in the JOIN or WHERE clause of a statement (any statement)
