Hi all,
Apologies for posting an obvious IIS related post, but I am having no joy with the IIS forums.... please see the post I placed earlier on an IIS forum....
Hi Forum,
I am a SQL DBA and new to IIS logging, I have a requirement to report on website activity. I intend to use a combination of SSIS and log parser to parse the relevant IIS logs for each server in question. However, I have run into an issue from the near start, I have turned logging for all available fields in the logging area of ISS (W3SVC style) for each site, but the logs are not logging all the information.... for example " s-computername", "duration" etc... Is there some additional configuration that I need to perform? This is relevant to IIS 6 and IIS7.x.
Any advice is gratefully received, I expect I am just using the wrong phrases in google!
Kind regards,
Adam

It is hard to see what you posted when we don't know what forum you posted it in. A direct link to the post might be helpful.
However I can assume it is MSDN forum and I generally stopped using those forums years ago. You might try ServerFault on the StackExchange network, they are pretty good at IIS type things over there.: http://serverfault.com/[/url].
Right off, I would not turn on all fields for every site unless you absolutely need that information. The more information you have it log the more overhead that is going cause in IIS. Generally speaking unless there is something particular you are looking to report off of the default fields can suffice.

The link to the IIS forum post is: http://forums.iis.net/t/1217618.aspx?IIS+logging
I agree that would have been helpful.
Kind regards,
