identity_insert error: could not find database ID

When trying to set the identity_insert for a table ( in dbid 137 ), I received the following error: could not find database ID 120. Database may not be activated yet or may be in transition.
There is no db id of 120, and I think that it was deleted with the identity_insert on. Any ideas how to handle this?

Are you sure the error is coming from the SET statement, and not from the subsequent SQL ?

Yes -- the set statement alone causes this error.

Don't know why, but rebooting the server over the weekend cleared up the problem.
