IBM iSeries ADO.Net provider not showing in SSIS 2008 Connection Mgr

  • We've been successfully using the IBM iSeries V5.4 OLEDB drivers to talk to the AS400 from SSIS 2008 R2. I saw that they also have ADO.Net drivers, which I hope might run faster. I reran the iSeries installer and loaded the .Net drivers, which included a reboot of the machine, but when I came back into BI Studio, the new driver does not appear in the pulldown of available providers when I create a new ADO.Net connection.

Is that iSeries V5.4 driver maybe rev incompatible with VS/SQL 2008?

I am running BI studio on a 32bit machine, is the driver only 64bit?

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks.

  • You might want to check\edit the following file once:

    Drive_Letter:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\ProviderDescriptors\ProviderDescriptors

    Even I'm curious...
