I'm trying to create a DTS Package to import data from an IBM DB2 database to our SQL Server 2000. I've created the IBM ODBC connection (DB2 Version 7.2) and the SQL Server OLEDB connection. When I try to go into the Transform Data Task between these two connections, Enterprise Manager would automatically close. It basically crashes and simply closes. It should have brought up the Transform Data Task screen. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you tested other connections besides DB2? Does this crash behavior happen with an Access connection?

Yes, it works with everything else such as Oracle ODBC, text files, MS Access, etc... We have DTS packages that gets data from these other sources. The DB2 ODBC connection works too if I use the Import and Export Data Wizard. It just doesn't work in a Transform Data Task (TDT) in a DTS Package. After creating the TDT between the DB2 ODBC and the SQL2K connection object, if I try to go into the TDT to view the properties, that is where it simply hard crashes and closes Enterprise Manage.

Try going through the Import/Export Wizard and save the DTS package at the end and then try going into the TDT. Does it crash when EM creates the DTS package?

I do this by using the Other (ODBC data source) and DB2 Connect as our ODBC driver software. I have not had too many problems doing it this way.

That's what we use with the IBM DB2 client components installed on the server. Seems like I did have a problem using the "IBM DB2 ODBC Driver", but when I switched to using "Other (ODBC Data Source)" and pointed to the proper DSN, everything worked fine. Not sure what the problem was, but like always, once a solution presents itself, we forget all about the original problem.

You might want to check to see what ODBC software the DB2 is cataloged for on the DB2 server. Somestimes, like iSeries, it's the only one that will work.

Just a quick one use the Db2 driver that comes with Microsoft host integration server , there are no limitations for instance the driver that comes with IBM or DB2 connect can only transfer 1 row at a time when using DTS , Host integration servers driver can do alot more .....just something I had problems with and used this driver and guess what all probs gone !
Just install the Host Integration client ...

The DB2 server is running v7.2 fixpak 10a on Linux. It used to be on IBM. Everything worked perfectly under the IBM, but ever since it was moved to Linux, the DTS just crashes. I've finally found a workaround by downgrading back to DB2 Connect 7.1 on the SQL Server. The DTS works fine now. No need to spend any more time trying to figure out why v7.2 doesn't work.

We're on IBM and it seems that every time a new fixpak is installed, a new bug is introduced, or an old bug resurfaces. Kinda frustrating!!!

I'd like to bump this thread. I have this same problem on a Windows 2003, SQL 2000 machine and any advice would be appreciated...
It's not DB2, but it's the same symptoms with the same result. EM just closes...
