I can not type into the message body most every time I try to edit a reply.

Don't give up. Go back and try again. Sooner or later it will work

Seems about 1 out of 5-10 tries let's me type.
When I can not type, the Explorer status bar shows
1 out of 1 items remaining.... seems to hang forever.
When I can type, status = "Done" pretty quickly.

Same here. It just never seems to finish loading.
I've had better luck setting explorer not to validate pages (i.e. "Check for a newer version of the page"... "Everytime you start Internet Explore" instead of the default automatic. This caches a lot more stuff and seems to avoid the page failing to load properly (I suspect it's a control that is not fully loading that might be causing the problem).
But it's definitley very, very flakey.

I'm finding the same thing. I am using IE version 6.0.2800.1106.
If I hit the refresh button (F5) it reloads the page. Usually the rthird reload loads the page completely (I get the done message) and then I am able to write the message.
Hope this helps with troubleshooting.

I just had it again. A reload useually fixes it, but I get a status message of "Download Your Evaluation Copy Today", whatever that means

This is some crazy error that we havne't been able to track. Seems about 2 in 10 here with IE 6 as well. With Mozilla (1.5) I don't get the smileys or font choices, just basic HTML, but it works every time.
If you reload in IE it seems to work better.
