Currently my site and reports are working to everyone with administration rights to the server machine but for those who do not have administration rights the ASP.NET site works with no problems but the SQL Server 2000 Reporting Server Reports do not work and give me this
The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
So my fellow IT members have been experimenting and found out if they give the users administration rights on the Server Machine they can run the reports with no problems... so we think it is something to do with reporting services default user rights... but we are not sure... If anyone knows what this problem could be please help....
We have giving the users rights too all databases they need and all folders on the entire machine and still do not allow them to view reports till we added them to the administrion group...

You have to give access to the reports. In the report manager, go to properties tab, there is a security section, add the users that will use the reports and assign the browser role.

i have put the users in all the places i can and still they can not access the reports unless i make them administrator for the host machine..... I am thinking maybe an IIS error but i am not sure.. i am looking through the log files of IIS and still not find anything... very confused here, i am. (i love Yoda).
If anyone has any ideas please share...

Try to look in the log files of RS, they are in the LogFiles folder in RS installation folder.

still not working like it should.. i went into the host machine and added a group called System User and then added the people that need to run reports in there... then i went into report manager and added in the system level security Sytem User and assigned them Administrator rights (i know there was a sytem lvl user type called system user but i assigned admin instead).
Now the users can run reports from the <A href="http://www..com/reportserver">www.<hostsite>.com/reportserver but if if they were to try to login into <A href="http://www..com/reports">www.<hostsite>.com/reports it will not let them giving them the 401 error , also if they try to run report from my asp.net application it will not let them giving them the 401 error also.
if i add the user to the administrator group (of the local machine) it lets them run report manager and reports from my site with no problems.
any ideas?
