Hey all,
I use a 2008 r2 report server (cluster of two front end servers).
We are quite new to using this server - however we have noticed that for intance;
I have a report - it takes 5 seconds to preview in BIDS (getting rid of cache file first). However if we deploy to the Report sever it takes longer (30 seconds+ to run). I have done a profile, captured the SQL exec statments run (5 stored procs) and they take a total of under second to run for all of them together in management studio.
Now the datasource is in the US - so is the report server. I am in the UK - so in theory the report server should be quicker for the datasource in the same country.
Now here is something i found very odd. If i cache the report on the report server - it doesnt speed up the rendering of the report. However if i then generate the report as a PDF - it takes 2-3 seconds to get the PDF.
There is no paging (all on one interactive page) involved. There are a few basic sums (as there are 7 pie charts).
Any ideas what to look at next?

Looking at the Rsexcutionlog3 the PDF takes 7 seconds to render, the html of exactly the same takes 70 seconds to render.
Any ideas anyone?
