How to view sys.database_principals

  • I'm sure this is an extremely simple problem. I'm studying Wrox's Beginning SQL Server 2005 Administration. Throughout the book there are 'For More Information' sections that state "The following Security Catalog Views can be used to identify....". I'll be darned if I can find a way to view either of two views named sys.database_principals and sys.database_role_members. Obviously I am a newbie. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks. Victor Victor

  • What do you get when you run "select * from sys.database_principals"

    .

  • Your hint worked. I won't go any further with this since I can now proceed. However, I did try select * from sys.database_principals yesterday. Query worked but returned zero rows. Also tried EXEC as though it was a stored procedure which did not work either. Can't explain. But: THANKS. I just hate it when I can do the difficult stuff but something simple stumps me. Thanks again, Victor Victor.
