    How to simulate a Blocking for testing purposes ?

    Open two windows in Query Analyzer.  In the first window put:

    Begin Transaction

    then update a row in a table.

    Execute.

    In the second window execute the same update statement.  This one should get blocked by the first update because it will keep the exclusive lock until you issue a commit transaction statement.
