Hi there,
Well, as I am sure you know there a numerous SQL Server technologies that provide availability solutions.
Which one you choose will depend on the requirements of your specific business and environment. For this reason the first thing you should be looking to do is pin down the exact requirements of your business i.e. what is considered an acceptable period of downtime, if any and how long is acceptable for a failover or to bring online the alternative site. There is a good article referenced below that will help you get started with this requirement.

From what you have described so far, it sounds like your servers are physically located at two separate geographical locations, in which case clustering is not appropriate/available to you.
This in my opinion leaves you with either Database Mirroring or Log Shipping as your availability technology choices. Have a search/look on this site/the internet and you will find an abundance of resources detailing how to work with these two technologies.
Hope this helps but of course please feel free to pose further queries.
Cheers,
