We have just installed SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition Service Pack 3 which was successful on all components EXCEPT for Reporting Services.
Now Reporting Services does not work.
I want to know if you can simply go to Add/Remove programs and ONLY remove the Reporting Services instance without affecting Database Services and Notification Services?
My aim is to remove and re-install RS and upgrade to SP3 successfully. Does this sound possible as i'm not a database administrator.
Is this the best way to fix RS for SP3?
Thanks in advance.

yes; each service can be uninstalled, or installed after the normal database services install.
Just like any other program, go to add/remove programs in teh control panel, find SQL 2005, adn chose to modify it...a couple of screens shown below, an then the standard wizard comes up so you can uninstall.

I assume when i re-install RS, i can then run the SP3 update and hopefully it will be fixed and working?
My only concern is that this a Production database. The error i have note been able to replicate on a test server so i'm guessing i just have to try it?
Also, if i simply uninstall RS, will i lose any vital database information that runs in the background for the normal Database Services, schema, etc...anything?
I can tell you i have never used or built anything in RS on this server before so i assume removing and reinstalling it doesn't have any impact on the rest of the SQL Machine services?
