Hello:
I was installing MS SQL Server Personal Edition in my Windows 2000 Prof. machine. Just before end of the installation process there was a quick power failure and the machine went dead. Once I rebooted the machine, I realized SQL was not installed properly and I try to uninstall it using the CD and it says install log file is corrupted. I tried to use registry rebuild and it doesn't work either. I tried to re-install it, but the installation process try to install another instance of SQL which I don't want to. Is there a way to completely remove the corrupted installation manually and start another fresh SQL installation session?
Thanks…

I would like you to restart your server.
Here is 2 suggestion. Go to add/remove program and try to remove sql server from there. If it is complete then go to c:\program files\microsoft sql server and remove the folder.
2nd suggestion: After the restart, remove c:\program files\microsoft sql server folder. You can try to run uninstall again if you want.
Restart your server again and then try to install sql server.

1. I'm not sure it's a server, I think "in my Windows 2000 Prof. machine" was mentioned.
2. Deleting the physical folder is not enough, registry entries created for this aborted installation has to be removed, if i'm not mistaken.
Good luck

Have a look at the MS KB article "HOW TO: Manually remove SQL Server 2000 default, named, or virtual instance" (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290991)
