from a SQL perspective no different from any other migration.
Speak to your server guys, they may be able to do a P2V for you. (physical to virtual server copy)

The actual migration is most probably not as complex as the discussion before the migration.
We're facing a similar situation right now: the (outsourced) server folks trying to force us into virtualization.
So we came up with a bunch of questions for them to answer:
What benefit will we have for a server with
- large DB's on it consuming about 75% of the disc? or
- a high CPU load based on heavy traffic? or
- business critical applications where we have no answer from the vendors (yet) whether virtualization is supported or not?
What is the strategy if we decide to virtualize two servers that are used as a warm standby for each other (log shipping from A to B and from B to A)? If we still need a 2nd server as a warm standby, what do we gain?
We went through the list of our servers with the information as described above and figured that we might try it with 3 (maybe 4) servers to be virtualized on 1 (maybe 2) machines (out of about 40 servers). What a major improvement! 😉
If we consider the addtl. charge we'll have to pay more than before. Decision pending.
