How to learn SQL?

  • Hi everyone, I would like to learn MySQL, and can anyone share some tutorials with me? I have been googling but I decided to join a community and ask the experts for the advice 🙂

  • Considering that this a a site dedicated to Microsoft SQL Server, I do not think you are going to find a lot of resources related to MySql.

As a bit of a side bar, I just took a look at that.  It's quite extensive but, lordy... try scanning all of the answers for a question.  I might be missing something but it doesn't look to be possible.  Instead, you have to click on every bloody message/answer header one at a time.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • Unlike MS SQL which has universally used SQL Management Studio, MySQL has various choices of tools to interface with MySQL.

I ended up using 2 different ones because they had different strong points, so I would use 1 for some tasks, and the other for other tasks.
