How to know the service account being used in Reporting Server?

  • Hi,

How do I know which account has been used for the reporting server?

Does the Windows Service Identity screen tells me this?

And what does it mean when it just says Built-in Account?

    Thank you.

Go to the "Services" control panel applet (note: it might show up under Administrator Tools). Check the "Log On As" column.

  • Hi Wayne,

If it says "Local System Account", will I ever know which account is it?

    Thank you.

  • Yes - it's the Local system account. And I'm not being a smart-a**. There is an account called this. It is probably a suitable account to use, unless you need network access. Then you will need a domain account with all of the appropriate permissions.

  • Hi Wayne,

Alright, so this is really an account. I was expecting some kind of a domain account.

    Thanks for the enlightenment.
