Hi I'm standing up a report with 9 visible cascading params , none of which needs to be entered. all will default to null,
If i remember correctly , once i set it up, the report will run automatically without the user hitting the run button because all params default that way. how can i avoid that, ie it running automatically?
if its relevant to this post i also remember a weird behavior in params that MS claimed was "by design" (baloney) but never explained. It had to do with scenarios where if you had picked say the nth param before, even if it doesnt jive with new param choices you make that should exclude it do to cascading, it stays on the list. if that doesnt impact the answer here, i'll post it separately. that behavior is unacceptable in the report I'm writing.

this article describes the crazy workaround where you attach a guid to each record on the 2nd thru nth params to make them refresh. https://bpmsbi.wordpress.com/2011/04/23/ssrs-cascading-parameters-refresh-solved/ .
as for stopping my report from running automatically, i added a visible param whose prompt is "Ready?". initially you have to select the one value i made available (Y). Thereafter even though Y is still selected, it appears you still have to click "view report" to make the report run. That might work for me.
