Hi All,
How can I install sql server 2005 developer edition management studio over a vista machine which has the visual studio 2005 prof edition installed in it?
The vista machine has already got sql server 2005 express edition isntalled with the installation of VS 2005 prof edition. Do I have to uninstall the express edition before i can isntall the SSMS from developer edition? I need to use it to manage a test box server we have that sql server 2005 developer edition installed. Please help!

You need to run the sql dev setup and install client tools only; if you would want to install the sql dev db engine as well then you have to create a sql named instance.

If i hit detail button i got the following message

Build version check:

However, the only SQL Server 2005 related thing installed in this machine is the SQL 2005 Express which installed when I installed the Visual Studio 2005 Prof. So, do I have to uninstall SQL 2005 Express before I can install the 2005 developer edition management studio? Or, they can co-exist? I mean the 2005 Express edition database with the 2005 develooper edition management studio. My expreience on 2000 is that i can just install the enterprise manager to any machine and then registered the server which i want to manage.
