Considering SQL 2000 is end of life (officially I think) I don't think this is where you should start. It might be nice for reference but you ABSOLUTELY shouldn't consider doing ANY new development in it. You can get SQL 2005 and 2008 versions readily from the MS website.
The developer version of 2005 or 2008 is about $50, you should use that instead of the eval version.
